A+E Lab
The Choreographic Coding Lab (CCL) format brings together creative practitioners working with performing arts and emergent technologies. This research laboratory allows participants to develop projects and engage with various departments of the Royal Ballet and Opera. It fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and explores choreography as an embodied framework for engaging with AI beyond standard digital practices. The week includes intensive lab work, departmental observation, attendance at the RBO/SHIFT Festival, and a public sharing event in the Linbury Theatre.
Catering (daily RBO canteen vouchers), dedicated workspace, free access to the RBO/SHIFT Festival and industry conference, departmental embedding opportunities, facilitator support, platform for public sharing on June 7, and 5 available spots for subsidised accommodation.
Applicants must be creative technologists working with AI and performance contexts. Must be available for the full duration from May 29 to June 7, 2026. Participants must bring their own equipment if needed and cover their own travel to London.
Submit applications via the online form at https://forms.gle/9BuNrkcZS8Vmf2nh7. Applicants must provide a brief bio, research practice overview, a project proposal or starting point, portfolio links, and specify RBO departments of interest for observation.
