About the Open Call

The 'On the Street' exhibition, juried by Elizabeth Avedon, calls for entries reflecting the essence of street photography. Artists are encouraged to submit images that portray the unscripted rhythm of life, focusing on beauty, humor, tension, and humanity found in everyday moments, whether in bustling cities, small-town fairs, or quiet rural intersections. The juror will select up to 35 images for physical exhibition at the Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 for the Online Gallery. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog, remain permanently on the PhotoPlace Gallery website, and be promoted on social media with links to the photographers' URLs. The opportunity aims to showcase how photographers observe the world when life doesn’t pose, capturing gestures, light, and chance aligning in a single frame.

What is Offered

Up to 35 selected images will be exhibited physically at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. An additional 40 images will be featured in an Online Gallery. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog, remain permanently on the PhotoPlace Gallery website, and be promoted on social media with links to the photographers’ URLs.
