About the Open Call

The Oil Painters of America (OPA) invites artists to enroll in its 2026 membership program. Membership is valid from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. OPA is dedicated to the preservation of representational art. All artists working in the oil medium are encouraged to apply. Processing takes 2-3 weeks, and payment is required upon application. Available membership options include: Associate Membership ($80) for all oil artists, eligible for all shows including National Show and online showcases. International Associate Membership ($80) for artists outside the US, Canada, or Mexico, offering digital newsletters, catalogs, email distribution, full access to online presentations, and eligibility for Spring Online Showcase. Signature Membership (requires specific exhibition history and application between June 1 and October 15, for approval at December board meeting). Master Signature Membership (conferred by OPA Board for exceptional merit; deadline for submission is September 1). Student Membership (free) for ages 14-23, includes annual student art competition and Lunch and Learn webinars. Student Associate Membership ($40) for ages 14-23, includes student art competition and all shows/online showcases. Collectors’ Circle Membership ($80) for art lovers and collectors, offering exclusive event access, VIP reception invites, virtual catalog, and newsletter. Gallery Membership ($80) for galleries representing at least one current OPA member. Additional tax-deductible contributions are also accepted.

What is Offered

Membership in a leading organization supporting representational art, eligibility for national and regional exhibitions, participation in online showcases, access to Lunch & Learn webinars and other online presentations, digital newsletters and catalogs, eligibility for awards, networking opportunities with peers and collectors, and, for some levels, voting rights or opportunities to hold office.

Requirements

Open to all artists working in the oil medium. Specific requirements apply for Signature and Master Signature status, including exhibition history and current Associate/Signature membership. Student membership is for individuals aged 14-23. International Associate Membership is for artists residing outside the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
