About the Open Call

The Nexus program invests in vibrant artistic expressions that reflect and engage Austin’s diverse communities. Applicants must have a history of creative production in Austin, operate with an annual budget under $150,000, and produce events or activities open to the public. The program is designed for individual artists and arts groups. Awards are based on criteria including creative work, organizational capacity, and public connection. Recipients are required to provide progress and final reports, and must participate in marketing and tourism training.

What is Offered

$5,000 or $10,000 grant award for 12-month periods.

Requirements

Applicants must be based in the Austin MSA, have at least one year of creative production history in Austin, maintain an annual operating budget of $150,000 or less, and have a mission rooted in producing arts and culture activities. 501(c) nonprofits and City of Austin employees are ineligible.
