NEW WORK Focus on Los Angeles 2027–2028 Artist Commission and Exhibition

About the Open Call

For our 2027 and 2028 NEW WORK Focus on Los Angeles program, we are seeking applications from Los Angeles–based visual artists. Two artists or collaborative teams will be selected, one for 2027 and one for 2028. This opportunity supports innovative, self-contained projects that are intended to be fully realized within the exhibition space and have not been previously exhibited. Projects should be completed by June in their respective year, 2027 or 2028. We are particularly interested in proposals that push the artist’s practice forward, take risks, and explore new directions. We actively support research-based, process-oriented, and interdisciplinary practices, especially those that engage critical inquiry and are realized through installation, video, sound, or other spatial formats.

What is Offered

$1500 commission, exhibition at Winslow Garage, and inclusion in the ONE WORK online publication series.

Requirements

Eligibility is limited to professional artists who have lived in Los Angeles County for at least five years and who are not currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Applicants must be at least three years out from any formal education.
