The New Work Development Artist Residency is designed to incubate new works of art in an environment of creative reciprocity between scholars and artists. The residency builds on strengths in Dance Science, Visualization, Performance Studies, Music Performance, Devised Theatre, Music Technology, Graphic Design, Choreography, and Virtual Production. Selected artists will spend nine weeks developing a new work, integrating into the life of the college, and providing engagement opportunities for students and faculty.
$10,000 stipend, on-campus lodging (two-bedroom apartment), shared office space, access to college facilities (rehearsal spaces, recording studios, visual art studios), professional documentation, and visa support for international artists.
Artists must develop a new work or body of works and be responsible for its ideation and execution. Requirements include engaging with students and faculty through open studios, rehearsals, workshops, or guest lectures, and attending monthly committee meetings. A public presentation of the developed work is required at the end of the residency.
Applications should be submitted as a single PDF to pvfaasir@tamu.edu. The submission must include a Letter of Intent (max 1,000 words), current CV, draft budget, draft timeline, a portfolio of past work, and the URL of the artist's website.
