New Contemporaries
New Contemporaries 2026 invites artists in the UK to join its Artist Development Programme and exhibition cycle. The opportunity is open to early-career artists across all media. Selected artists will participate in a structured development programme from September 2026 to June 2027, featuring mentoring sessions, networking, and workshops. The process culminates in an exhibition opening in June 2027 at Focal Point Gallery. Selection is handled by a panel including Joy Gregory, Florence Peake, and Abbas Zahedi.
Selected artists receive an artist fee, travel and accommodation bursaries for sessions and openings, access support, mentoring, and an opportunity to sell work during the exhibition (50% commission).
Artists must self-identify as emerging or early career, be based in the UK, be aged 21 or over, and not have previously exhibited with New Contemporaries. Duos and collectives are eligible if all members meet the criteria.
Applications must be submitted through the New Contemporaries Submissions portal. Applicants should provide up to three works representing their current practice and a short written statement regarding their work and the impact of this opportunity.
