About the Open Call

NEW AIR 2026 invites artists based in Asia (excluding Japan) to a two-month residency in Yokohama from July 20 to September 20, 2026. The program includes studio space at Art Center NEW, accommodation, travel expenses, a daily allowance, and a production budget. Artists are required to hold an open studio and a final presentation during the NEW PLATFORM art fair. Applicants must be able to communicate in English or Japanese and be willing to engage with the local community.

What is Offered

Accommodation, artist studio, round-trip travel (up to JPY 200,000), visa application fee (up to JPY 10,000), daily allowance (JPY 5,000/day), and production budget (up to JPY 150,000).

Requirements

Applicants must be based in Asia (excluding Japan). Must reside in Yokohama for at least two-thirds of the residency period and be present for the September 3-13, 2026 period. Must have basic English or Japanese communication skills.
