Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
The Artist Project is a collaboration between an experienced artist, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and twelve after-school community organizations. The selected artist plans and leads an art project with children between the ages of six and twelve, drawing inspiration from the MFA’s collection. The program results in a collaborative work of art exhibited in the Edward H. Linde Gallery for up to six months. The Lead Artist must be available for planning in July 2026 and sessions from October 2026 through April 2027.
A $50,000 stipend for the Lead Artist and a $5,000 budget for materials. The final work is exhibited in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art for up to six months.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States and reside in or near Boston for the duration of the project. Artists must be experienced in exhibiting and working with groups of children. Artists who work in any medium are eligible.
Applications must be submitted via the Submittable platform. Requirements include applicant/reference contact info, a letter of support from an organization serving children, a project proposal (concept, title, media, objective, connection to MFA collection), a visual rendering of the project in the gallery space, a project timeline, an artist CV, and work samples (up to 10 images or 10 minutes of video/sound).
