Memory and Myth: SDA’s 2026 International Exhibition

About the Open Call

Selected artists will have their work published in the Fall 2026 issue of Surface Design Journal, including full-color images and artist statements. Seven award winners will receive an expanded three-page feature in the journal, recognizing excellence in conceptual and material approaches to the theme.

Requirements

The call is open internationally to artists working with fiber and textile-based media. Each artist may submit up to three original artworks, with up to two images per artwork (one overall view and one detail). Works must be original and completed after January 1, 2024, and must not have been previously exhibited in an SDA exhibition.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the CaFÉ (Call for Entry) platform. Artists must upload image files of their work along with a short artist statement and artwork descriptions.
