About the Open Call

The Oil Painters of America (OPA) offers several membership options for artists working in the oil medium, as well as collectors and galleries. 2026 Membership enrollment is open, with membership valid from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. Membership benefits include eligibility to jury for shows (including the National Show), participation in online showcases, digital newsletters and catalogs, access to Lunch & Learn webinars and other online presentations, and voting rights for some tiers. Membership types include: - Associate Membership ($80): Open to all artists working with oil. Eligible for all shows. - International Associate Membership ($80): For artists outside the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Receives digital communications, access to online presentations, and can apply to the Spring Online Showcase. Not eligible for OPA physical exhibitions. - Signature Membership ($80): Requires specific exhibition history (e.g., four national OPA shows within eight years) and an application period between June 1 and October 15. - Master Signature Membership: Conferred by the OPA Board for exceptional merit. Requires prior Signature Membership. Deadline for submission is September 1. - Student Membership (Free): For individuals aged 14-23 with an interest in oil painting. Includes participation in annual student art competition and Lunch and Learn webinars. No voting rights. - Student Associate Membership ($40): For individuals aged 14-23 working in oil. Includes participation in annual student art competition and all shows/online showcases. No voting rights. - Collectors’ Circle Membership ($80): For art lovers and collectors, offering exclusive access to OPA members-only events, VIP receptions, virtual catalogs, and newsletters. - Gallery Membership ($80): For galleries representing at least one current OPA member, for listing in OPA’s Gallery Preview. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. Payment is required upon application.

Requirements

All artists working in the oil medium are encouraged to apply. Specific requirements apply for Signature and Master Signature status, and age limits for Student memberships. International Associate Membership has geographic restrictions for physical exhibitions.

Apply online by filling out the application and paying dues via the provided button, or apply by mail by printing and filling out an application and sending in your dues. Renewing members can log in to their account or mail a check to Oil Painters of America PO Box 2488 Crystal Lake, Illinois 60039-2488.
