Luminarts Cultural Foundation
The Luminarts Fellowship programs support young artists in the Chicago region. Disciplines for the 2026 cycle include Creative Writing (Poetry and Prose), Jazz Improvisation, Classical Music (Voice, Piano, Strings, and Winds), and Visual Arts (Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Sculpture, and Video). Fellows receive substantial unrestricted grants and remain eligible for additional project funding and professional development opportunities for 10 years following their award. Finalists in most categories receive a $300 Honorable Mention award.
$10,000 to $15,000 unrestricted fellowship awards, $300 finalist honorable mentions, and 10 years of eligibility for project funding and professional development.
Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old on the date of submission, live within 150 miles of the Chicago Loop, and be legally able to receive taxable income in the U.S. (Social Security Number required). Finalists must be available for live auditions or exhibition dates in Chicago during March, April, or May 2026.
Applications must be submitted via the Luminarts Submittable portal. Required components include work samples (written pieces, video recordings, or images), an artist statement (250-500 words), one professional or educational reference, and a CV/Resume.
