Lucchesi Skatepark Public Art Request for Proposals

City of Petaluma

Free

About the Open Call

The Lucchesi Skatepark mural commission is supported by in-lieu fees from the skatepark project. The Petaluma Public Art Committee (PPAC) seeks to engage emerging or established artists to create a durable, site-specific mural on 335 square feet of vertical walls. The artwork should maintain a coherent style, evoke feelings of active fun, and consider skate community culture while providing opportunities to underserved and emerging artists.

What is Offered

An all-inclusive award of up to $13,000 for the artwork, including artist fees, design, travel, materials, fabrication, insurance, and one year of maintenance.

Requirements

The opportunity is open to California-based artists and artist teams aged 16 or older. Proposed artwork must be suitable for permanent outdoor placement, meeting durability and safety standards. At least one community engagement opportunity must be included in the proposal.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit their proposals via the online form available on the City's website by the deadline. Required documents include a proposed concept rendering, a community engagement plan, a letter of interest, an artist statement, a resume, 3-5 work samples, and 2 references.
