Alliance for California Traditional Arts
The Living Cultures Grant helps communities in California carry forward, strengthen, and share their traditions. Projects involving any genre of traditional arts—including but not limited to music, dance, storytelling, theater, traditional cooking, and crafts—are welcome. Individual artists can apply for $7,500, while nonprofits and organizations can apply for $10,000. Priority is given to projects that help traditions stay strong, keep them alive with appropriate tools, or share them with broader communities. Applicants must be based in California.
$7,500 for individual artists and $10,000 for organizations and Tribal Nations.
Applicants must be based in California. Individuals must be traditional artists or culture bearers with at least five years of practice and be 18+. Organizations must have an annual budget under $500,000 or work with a fiscal sponsor. All projects must be accessible to people with disabilities.
