KONTEKST Collective
KONTEKST Film Festival is curated by a collective of anthropologists, filmmakers, and artists. The 2026 ENTANGLEMENTS edition seeks work showing how humans, animals, plants, technology, and material culture shape and impact each other. The festival welcomes the blurring of boundaries between documenting, imagining, speculating, and creating, focusing on kinship beyond the human and relationships between life and technology.
Selection for a two-day festival programme, screening at Conway Hall, and inclusion in promotional materials like festival brochures and trailers.
Films must be 25 minutes or shorter, directed/produced by emerging/early career filmmakers, and relate to the theme of 'ENTANGLEMENTS'. AI-generated content is generally disqualified unless used in a self-aware, contextual manner. Non-English films must have English subtitles.
Submit work via the FilmFreeway platform. Applicants may request a fee waiver by emailing hello@kontekstcollective.com with the subject line 'KFF2026 FEE WAIVER'.
