kNOwBOX dance
The kNOwBOX dance Film Festival (NBFF) is an international platform for dance filmmakers who challenge convention and expand what dance on film can be. NBFF operates as a global dance think tank centering innovation, experimentation, and cultural exchange. Official selections are presented at live festival events in Texas (USA), South Korea, and Mexico, and are considered for inclusion in a digital archive and distribution catalog shared with independent organizations, universities, and museums.
Official Selection receives a minimum $100 USD stipend. First Prize receives $500 USD plus the selection stipend. Award recipients receive a minimum $200 USD plus stipend. Includes 2 festival passes, marketing spotlight, and inclusion in digital archive.
Films must have been completed between 1950 and 2026. Each submission must include high-resolution film stills/photos with credits and the filmmaker's current location. Filmmakers must secure all copyright permissions for music and imagery.
Submissions are accepted via FilmFreeway. A waiver form is available for artists for whom the submission fee is a barrier.
