About the Open Call

Korean Community Services (KCS), sponsored by the Asian American Federation (AAF), is hosting its first-ever Korean Art Competition, open to 1st to 12th-grade students across New York State. This competition provides a unique opportunity for Korean students to express their cultural identity through art. The theme for this year's competition is: "The Faces of My Community." All submissions must be original, created entirely by the student without help from parents, friends, etc. The use of AI-generated content, fan art, traced or plagiarized work is strictly prohibited. KCS holds the right to withdraw and disqualify any applicants at any point in the competition should they violate these rules. After submitting the online application, applicants must drop off the physical artwork at KCS Headquarters either in person or via mail-in. KCS is a non-profit organization located in NY & NJ that has been serving the Korean and wider Asian community since 1973.

What is Offered

Opportunity to participate in an art competition, have artwork displayed at the KCS Korean Art Competition Showcase & Ceremony, included in online galleries, and used for promotional marketing materials. No financial compensation will be provided for the use of materials.

Requirements

This competition is exclusively open to students of Korean descent residing in New York State, in grades 1st to 12th. All submissions must be original, created entirely by the student without outside help. The use of AI-generated content, fan art, traced or plagiarized work is strictly prohibited. Artwork must be 2D, with dimensions not bigger than 18 by 24 inches or smaller than 11 by 8.5 inches.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the online application form and then submit their physical artwork. Artwork can be dropped off in person at KCS Headquarters (203-05 32nd Ave., Bayside, NY 11361) during office hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) or mailed to Korean Community Services (KCS), ATTN: Education Department, 203-05 32nd Ave., Bayside, NY 11361. The deadline for both application and artwork submission is Friday, October 31st, 2025, by 5:00 PM EST.
