New York State, Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, and the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission
The Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission is seeking designs for a memorial honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her legacy that pays tribute to her fearless pursuit of equality and justice. The memorial will be located at the southwest plaza of Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, a 1,000-square-foot site with a load capacity of 250 PSF. The selection process is split into two phases: Phase One identifies broad concepts, and Phase Two selects 3-5 finalists to develop detailed designs. The artwork should be durable, require minimal maintenance, and engage the public through creative and innovative artistic styles.
A total project budget between $1 million and $2 million covering design, fabrication, and installation; finalists in Phase Two will also receive a prospective artist fee.
Artists and designers must be 18 years or older. Applicants should demonstrate experience in monumental scale public art, site-responsive design, and project management. Experience with projects having fabrication budgets over $400,000 is preferred. Artists are encouraged to apply as a team including a fabrication firm or foundry.
