About the Open Call

This commission provides resources and support toward the creation and development of a new play by early-career women/femme and/or non-binary storytellers. The project culminates in a 60-90 minute 2-person play that will be workshopped and presented as a reading for an audience at L&IC’s Fall Retreat in September of 2026. Schedule and deadlines will be determined by the recipient and the program director.

What is Offered

A $3,000 commission fee, along with housing, meals, and travel expenses for the Fall Retreat.

Requirements

Open to early-career women/femme and/or non-binary storytellers. 'Early-career' is defined as artists who have not had theatrical work extensively professionally produced and have fewer than two full-length pieces published in print. The play must be performable with 2 actors and run between 60-90 minutes.

How to Apply

Submit via the online Google Form link. Applications must include a short (5-page max) writing sample/excerpt in PDF format, a 1-page artistic statement in PDF format describing influences and stylistic perspective, and a resume/CV in PDF format.
