JOY: Open Exhibition

About the Open Call

The JOY Open Exhibition invites artists from Somerset and beyond to submit work that reflects on the theme of 'Joy'. Selected artworks will be displayed in Gallery 1 at East Quay. The exhibition is intentionally non-prescriptive, welcoming interpretations of joy as an act of resistance, a personal connection, or a collective experience. Digital and video-based works are not eligible.

What is Offered

Selected works will be exhibited at East Quay from September 2026 to January 2027. Three prizes of £1,000 each are available: Judges’ Favourite, Student/Under 25s Prize, and Audience Favourite Award.

Requirements

Artists may submit one artwork. 2D works must not exceed 1m x 1m (framed) with a 15cm depth. 3D works must not exceed 1m x 1m x 1m. Paper-based works must be professionally framed. Artists are responsible for delivery and collection costs and insurance.

How to Apply

Artists must purchase an application via the provided ticketing link. Upon purchase, a confirmation email with a link to a Google form application will be sent. The form must be completed and submitted to finalize the entry.
