About the Open Call

The Joan Day bursary provides £1000 to support an emerging, Yorkshire-based artist in creating a new body of work for a solo exhibition in September 2026. The exhibition opening is scheduled for Friday 4th September 2026. Applicants must use paint as a prominent feature of their practice. Artists based in West Yorkshire will be prioritised. Full-time students are ineligible, but final year students graduating in 2026 may apply.

Applicants must be emerging artists based in Yorkshire (West Yorkshire prioritized). Must use paint as a prominent feature of their practice. Not open to full-time students (except final year students graduating in 2026).
