Jan van Eyck Academie
Every year, artists, curators, designers – ranging from graphic and fashion to food and social design –, researchers, writers, and architects are welcome to apply for an 11-month residency amongst a cohort of some 36 participants. Before proceeding with the application steps, please acquaint yourself with the application procedure described below. Residency period: 15 January 2027 – 15 December 2027. The selection outcome will be communicated in early May 2026. Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we receive each year, we are unable to provide personalised feedback on unsuccessful applications. If selected, you will be asked to sign the Jan van Eyck Code of Conduct and an agreement with the Jan van Eyck Academie. This agreement and the code state all details concerning your stay, working period, the policies of the institute, mutual rights and duties, and the approach we expect from participants and staff. If you foresee any difficulties starting your residency, be it because of personal circumstances, health issues, your financial situation, psychological or physical challenges, or visa related concerns, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist.

Artist statement (250 words / 1400 characters), Motivation (500 words / 3150 characters), Project proposal (500 words / 3150 characters) – can be combined into a video or audio file (max 8 min). A single PDF file (max 10MB) containing documentation of recent work (max 25 pages within the last 5 years) and Curriculum Vitae / resume (max 2 pages). Application fee of €65 (excl. VAT), waived for applicants from and living in Least Developed Countries, Low Income Countries and Lower Middle Income Countries and Territories on the DAC list of ODA recipients.
After filling in your personal data, you will be asked to lay out your application in three fields, in English: Artist statement (250 words / 1400 characters), Motivation (500 words / 3150 characters), and Project proposal (500 words / 3150 characters). You can also opt for submitting a link to a video or an audio file (max 8 min) laying out these three components combined. After completing these fields, you will be asked to upload a single PDF file (max 10MB) containing the following: Documentation of recent work (max 25 pages showing work done within the last 5 years) and Curriculum Vitae / resume (max 2 pages). After uploading the PDF, you will be redirected to PayPal to cover the cost of the application fee, before finalising your application. If you are unable to activate a PayPal account, please contact us. Upon submission, you will receive an automatic confirmation that we have received your application. From this point on, you cannot make any adjustments to your application. If there are any questions or issues regarding your application or payment, we will contact you.
