About the Open Call

Who Can Apply: U.S. citizens or permanent residents (Green Card holders) who have never published a novel. Writers may have published other types of work (e.g., articles, short stories), but not previously published novels. Eligible Art Forms: Unpublished novels in progress Manuscripts in which one or more chapters have appeared in print or online are permitted Not eligible: collections of short stories, linked short stories, self-published novels, poetry, memoirs, non-fiction or works of other genres. Submission Requirements: Entries must include: Synopsis/outline of up to two pages First 50 pages of the novel-in-progress Cover letter with entrant’s name and contact details (appears only on the cover letter, not within the manuscript itself) All submissions must be typed, double-spaced, numbered, and uploaded online via the official Submission Manager.

Requirements

Applicants must be working on their first novel.
