Studio H Canada International Artist Residency
The Irene Borins Ash Commemorative Textile Residency (IBACTR) is a unique international opportunity for artists to engage in weaving and research. Established in honour of Irene Borins Ash, the residency provides access to a Leclerc Tapestry Loom (Tissart 150CM). Proposals are sought for projects that explore experimental, traditional, or hybrid weaving approaches, particularly those addressing themes of resilience, compassion, and the environment. Artists are expected to complete at least one work during their stay.
The residency is partially funded, providing accommodations and studio space, plus a $1,800 CAD cash award. The total value of the award is approximately $3,600 CAD.
Applicants must demonstrate skill and commitment to weaving, though weaving does not need to be their primary focus. A background in fibre and textile arts is required.
Applications are submitted via a Google Form link available on the residency website. Note that while current text indicates applications for 2026 are closed, an intake cycle is listed to open in September 2025.
