Chartreuse
This international writing campus supports contemporary Arabic-language dramatic writing and encourages exchange between a new generation of artists across the Mediterranean. Selected playwrights will: Develop a work-in-progress related to the thematic framework Collaborate with translators and young actors Receive translation of the opening pages into French Participate in dramaturgical guidance and collective reflection sessions Present their work in a public staged reading Participants will have access to La Chartreuse’s theatre library, artistic support, and research resources. Theme: Who leaves and returns — what will remain of their trace? Applicants must submit a new play project inspired by this theme, engaging with shared Mediterranean imaginaries and collective memory. Each selected playwright will receive: €700 gross grant (covers assistance, insurance, local transport, subsistence, project-related costs) Round-trip international travel Visa fees and travel insurance (if required) On-site accommodation (with kitchen and Wi-Fi) All other expenses remain the responsibility of participants.
The call is open to playwrights: Residing and regularly working in one of the following countries: Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria Able to communicate in basic French (fluency not required) Fully available for the residency period
