About the Open Call

The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, etc.) that interpret Urban Landscapes, Suburban Scenes, and Rural Impressions. These themes explore the visual characteristics of different locales, from crowded city streets and skyscraper silhouettes to family barbecues, well-groomed front yards, strip malls, farmhouses, fields, animals, and rusted cars. Photographers are encouraged to send their unique interpretations of these environments. Only 2-D work is eligible.

What is Offered

Winners will receive $4,000 in total cash awards. The Grand Prize winner receives $1,100 and will be featured on the NYC4PA.COM home page. Three First Prize winners (one in each category: Urban, Suburban, Rural) will receive $400 each. Three Second Prize winners will receive $325 each, and three Third Prize winners will receive $250 each. All prizewinners, Juror Selections, and Honorable Mentions will be included in the NYC4PA online gallery and winners catalog, and receive an award certificate.

Requirements

This Call for Entries is open worldwide to both amateur and professional photographers. Images awarded an NYC4PA prize within the past 2 years are not eligible; however, previously submitted images not selected for a prize may be resubmitted. Only 2-D work is eligible. Submissions must not include signatures or watermarks. All entrants attest that submitted images are their own work and do not infringe copyright.

How to Apply

The entry fee is $35 for the first three images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted. For payment and upload, go to: https://client.smarterentry.com/nyc4pa. Prepare images as Jpg files, about 1MB, ensuring unique and shorter names without special characters. Avoid signatures or watermarks.
