Villa Kujoyama
Villa Kujoyama is a multidisciplinary research residence that welcomes artists, artisans, and researchers for stays of four to six months. Residents are provided with time and space to focus on their practice and establish connections with the Japanese artistic, cultural, and academic sectors. The residency includes an artistic support team and opportunities for 'micro-residencies' in other Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Yakushima. The facility provides studio-housing, an auditorium, a library, and shared spaces for events like 'Les Jeudis de la Villa'.
A four to six month residency, studio-housing (64m²), dedicated research support, access to technical equipment, auditorium, and library. A complementary financial stipend is available for residents with children.
The call is open to artists, artisans, and researchers across 17 disciplines including architecture, digital arts, plastic arts, cinema, dance, and music. Projects must focus on research and interaction with the Japanese cultural landscape. The application process is limited to 250 candidates.
Applications for the 2027 residencies must be submitted through the Institut français website. The call for applications opens on February 3, 2026, and is limited to the first 250 applications received.
