The residency is part of the Library’s effort to harness emerging technology and transformational experimentation. Residents produce creative and transformative digital work while serving as an ambassador for the Library. The residency is anticipated to be mostly remote, with some in-person research and event requirements, beginning in late September 2026. The residency duration is 12 to 24 months. Work will be displayed on the Library’s websites and/or in public spaces.
Funding up to $90,000 for the first year and an additional $90,000 for an optional second year, plus program and research support.
Proposed projects must involve research with Library of Congress collections and the production of a transformative digital work. Applicants must propose their own residency schedule.
Submit concept papers via SAM.gov (Announcement 030ADV26R0021) by April 10th, 2026, at 2:00pm ET. Applicants must follow the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) guidelines.
