Alberta Foundation for the Arts
The Indigenous Arts Individual Project Funding supports a wide range of artistic and cultural activities for Alberta-based Indigenous artists. Eligible projects include artistic production (development and creation of work), marketing (audience development and promotion), research (including gathering natural materials), and training/career development (mentorships, workshops, and courses). The funding covers up to 100% of eligible expenses, including artist fees, subsistence (up to $3,000/month), and production costs. Applications are adjudicated by an expert panel based on artistic merit, project impact, and the individual's connection to Indigenous culture and community.
Grants of up to $18,000 CAD per project.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or Protected Persons and have been residents of Alberta for at least one full year. Applicants must be Indigenous artists, administrators, or unincorporated ensembles. Previous grant recipients must have no outstanding final reports. Projects must be received prior to commencement.
Applications must be submitted through the GATE Front Office online application system. First-time applicants must email registrationafa@gov.ab.ca at least five business days before the deadline to obtain login credentials. Applications must include an artistic resume, a detailed project description, and a project budget.
