About the Open Call

In The Making is Centrum's dynamic residency program for visual artists to immerse themselves in their craft and share it through public-facing projects such as exhibitions, performances, temporary installations, or other community-centered experiences. Residents live in semi-rustic cabins or apartments and have access to various studio spaces. The program emphasizes solo practice while facilitating community connection through public engagement. Stipends vary based on the project scope and funding. Residencies typically occur between September and May.

Requirements

Open to visual and interdisciplinary artists. Applicants must provide a proposal for a public-facing project (exhibition, installation, performance, etc.) and apply via Submittable.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through Submittable. The application period for the 2027 season is April 15, 2026, through June 30, 2026. Applicants must indicate interest in the 'In the Making' program and include a project idea/proposal in their application.
