The Rotterdam Lab, organised as part of IFFR Pro, is a five-day training workshop that offers emerging international professionals the means to build and develop their networks and learn about new developments in the industry. For the 25th anniversary, a new dedicated strand for creators (writers and directors) has been introduced. This track is designed for filmmakers to deepen their understanding of the production process, financing, sales, and distribution. British Council is offering places for two emerging UK producers and one UK writer/director.
Selected participants receive five nights' hotel accommodation, a five-day Rotterdam Lab Programme, CineMart accreditation, and the eligibility to apply for a Travel Grant to support travel costs.
Applicants must be UK-based emerging producers (with at least two short films or working on their first/second feature) or writer-directors with strong artistic potential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in international co-production and expanding their global network.
Applicants must send a CV/filmography, company profile (if applicable), and a letter of motivation (each no more than one page) to joanna.duncombe@britishcouncil.org with the subject 'British Council Rotterdam [PRODUCERS/CREATORS] Lab 2026 Application'.
