Friends of IFCC
This opportunity is open to Portland-based artists at any career stage working in wide-ranging disciplines including visual arts, writing, multimedia, music (including bands), dance, theater, spoken word, and multidisciplinary performance. Applicants are encouraged to consider how their creative work aligns with the vision of IFCC as an anchor facility where North/Northeast Portland’s arts and culture contributions can be presented, displayed, and discussed, and its significant artists honored. There are two award types: Project Grants, typically ranging from $6,000-$10,000, which are unrestricted and can be used to pursue artistic practice, and Residencies, which include nine weeks of free artist workspace at IFCC. Program highlights include a requirement for each participating artist to activate IFCC for a minimum of one public event (e.g., workshop, open studio, artist talk, class, performance, exhibition). Collaboration among participating artists is encouraged, with at least two community-building gatherings. Optional participation in an annual artists’ showcase in the winter, an annual festival in the summer, and professional development workshops are also offered.
