About the Open Call

Head On Photo Festival is Australia’s leading international photographic event. The festival showcases work from enthusiast, emerging, and established artists across a mix of online and in-person exhibitions in Sydney, with some touring internationally. Selection is made anonymously by a panel of industry professionals. One submission will receive a $5,000 cash award. Featured Exhibitors have their production, curatorial, and promotion costs covered by the festival.

Requirements

Submit a body of work consisting of 10 resized images (JPG/JPEG, 2400px on the long edge, under 2MB each), a project description (max 150 words), and an artist bio (max 150 words). Images must be from the last five years (preferable).

How to Apply

Photographers must register or log in to the submission portal and upload a series of 10 images connected by a clear theme. The submission includes sections for contact details, project information (images, description, bio), and community insights.
