Grants for Arts Projects is the NEA's largest grants program for organizations, supporting projects in disciplines including Arts Education, Dance, Design, Folk & Traditional Arts, Literary Arts, Local Arts Agencies, Museums, Music, Opera, Presenting & Multidisciplinary Works, Theater & Musical Theater, and Visual & Media Arts. The program focuses on agency priorities like health and well-being, artistic heritage, and cultural legacy.
Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000; Local Arts Agencies subgranting projects may request up to $150,000. A 1:1 cost share is required.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit 501(c)(3) U.S. organizations, units of state/local government, or federally recognized tribal communities. Must have 5 years of arts programming history and an operating budget of at least $20,000 in the previous fiscal year.
Follow a two-part process: Part 1 involves submitting a form on Grants.gov by the deadline. Part 2 involves completing the Grant Application Form on the NEA Applicant Portal during the specified window.
