The Old Waterworks
Future Ruins and New Worlds (FRNW) is a postgraduate-level programme for artists to deepen contextual research. Led by Dr Ruth Jones and Dr David Watkins, the course includes eight seminar-style sessions, writing workshops, and peer exchange, without the financial barriers of traditional postgraduate study.
Eight intensive seminar sessions, group critique, writing workshops, peer-reviewed journal publication, and a public exhibition in November 2026.
Essex or East of England based visual artists with degree-level qualification or equivalent; must not be in formal education; must attend all sessions in person and commit to the final exhibition.
Submit a single PDF document including a reason for applying (150 words), artist statement (200 words), bio (200 words), CV (1 page), and five images or a two-minute showreel to info@theoldwaterworks.com with the subject line 'FRNW Application'.
