About the Open Call
Furthermore grants assist nonfiction books having to do with art, architecture, and design; cultural history, the city, and related public issues; and conservation and preservation. Awards range from $1,500 to $12,000 and funds apply to specific publication components such as writing, research, editing, indexing, design, illustration, photography, and printing and binding. Preference is given to book projects that have a university press, nonprofit or trade publisher already committed and a feasible distribution plan in place.
