Studio Montclair
Studio Montclair is pleased to announce an Open Call for an exhibition commemorating Black History and Women’s History Months: Freedom. From Romare Bearden to Emory Douglas, from Faith Ringgold to Kathe Kollwitz, artists have been at the forefront in the fight for freedom, whether it be creative, political, or spiritual. In honor of Black History and Women’s History Month, Studio Montclair invites creatives to submit works that explore how art inspires resistance, challenges boundaries, and catalyzes change. Artists are invited to respond to these concepts in styles ranging from bold abstraction to intimate figuration, and in mediums spanning painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, and mixed media. Your responses should be as varied as the stories they reflect. Studio Montclair does not provide insurance for theft, loss or damage of artwork while the artwork is in transit or while it is on display at its venues. All artists should have their work insured if they feel it necessary. Studio Montclair will make every possible effort to handle all artwork with care and respect. 30% donation will be retained by SMI on all sales. Works available for sale will be sold at the price indicated on the entry form. No changes in price will be permitted after drop-off date. Works not for sale should be listed NFS. Studio Montclair reserves the right to photograph and use accepted work for documentation, website, publicity, social media, or catalog purposes. Exhibiting artists residing within a 25 mile radius of the Gallery are required to gallery sit for a minimum of two (2) hours during the run of the show. Alternatively, if an artist is unable to gallery sit, they may pay a $40 fee to cover the cost of hiring a sitter. Artists may sign up here: Gallery Sit. 'Artist in the House' marketing will be afforded to all exhibiting artist gallery sitters.
