About the Open Call

Fire and Form is a juried exhibition celebrating the depth, diversity, and innovation of encaustic and wax-based artists working across New York State. The exhibition highlights the luminous, layered, and enduring qualities of wax as a contemporary medium. Artists working with traditional encaustic painting, encaustic with mixed media, cold wax, or wax-based sculpture are invited to apply.

What is Offered

Exhibition at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Artists are responsible for transportation costs and insurance for delivery and pickup.

Requirements

Open to all artists in the state of New York working with encaustic or wax-based mediums. Submissions must be recent work completed after January 1, 2024. Artists must be able to deliver and pick up work in person in Rochester, NY.
