About the Open Call

Under the Surface is a juried exhibit focusing on layers. Original 2D and 3D work using traditional media is accepted. Digital artists are excluded. Applicants must provide high-quality photos of their work. Prizes include $500 for 1st, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd place, plus merit ribbons.

What is Offered

1st place: $500; 2nd place: $200; 3rd place: $100; 5 Merit Awards (ribbons).

Requirements

Only original work (no prints/giclées). Must be a traditional art medium. 2D work must be gallery wrapped or framed. 3D work must fit on specific pedestals or be negotiated. Must not have been displayed in a previous juried VAC exhibit (exceptions apply).

How to Apply

Complete registration online, fill in all fields (title, medium, size, price), and upload a .jpg photograph of the entry with the filename following the convention of artist name and artwork title. Pay the appropriate entry fee through the website.
