About the Open Call

The Ephemere Photobook Grant focuses on the photobook as a physical object, prioritizing visceral narrative and sequencing over technical perfection. One Grand Winner is selected to have their project professionally finalized, printed, and launched in Japan. Shortlisted artists will have their dummies exhibited as a special installation during the Ephemere Photo Fest in October.

What is Offered

100% production coverage for a Japan-based monograph, round-trip airfare to Tokyo for the book launch, global distribution, and 10% of the print run as artist copies.

Requirements

Submissions must be physical dummies; digital-only entries are not accepted. Work must be unpublished (editions under 50 copies allowed). English translation must be provided for non-English text. Grand Winner attendance at the Tokyo launch is mandatory.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the online registration form to receive the Tokyo shipping address, then mail a physical book dummy (rough drafts or maquettes) to the organization. A web-ready digital PDF reference must also be uploaded during registration.
