Foundation for Contemporary Arts
Emergency Grants support the confirmed, public presentation of completed experimental work through performances, exhibitions, screenings, poetry readings, installations, and more. The program is designed for artists whose work pushes against, expands upon, or breaks from established artistic practices. Grants are intended for artists who have an urgent, last-minute need for funding to realize a scheduled project. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by a panel of artists.
Grants to support expenses such as artists' fees, airfare, accommodations, materials, shipping/transport, fabrication, and production.
Applicants must be individual artists (or representing a collective) living in the United States or U.S. territories with a U.S. Tax ID. They must have a committed performance or exhibition opportunity with specific dates. Students enrolled in degree-granting programs are ineligible. Artists must not have received an FCA grant in the past 36 months.
Artists must apply 8-10 weeks before their project's public presentation date via the Foundation's online Submittable portal. The application requires work samples, project description, and budget information showing urgent financial need.
