East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center
Inspired by Hokusai's 36 Views of Mount Fuji, this exhibition explores Mauna Loa as a symbol of destruction, renewal, tradition, and change. The gallery seeks works that reflect the volcano's influence on the landscape and community through various mediums including painting, sculpture, video, photography, and installation. The exhibition will feature 18 invited artists and 18 artists selected through this open call.
Selected artists participate in one of two exhibition installments. EHCC provides return shipping for neighbor island artists and retains a 40% commission on any art sales.
Open strictly to artists residing in the State of Hawaiʻi. Artists may submit one artwork or a cohesive body of work. All accepted work must be ready for installation and delivered to the gallery by the specified drop-off dates for their assigned part of the exhibition.
Artists must create an account and apply via the ArtCall.org platform. Submissions require digital images (JPEG, < 10MB), an artist statement (max 1 page), a CV (max 2 pages), and a narrative biography (max 1 page). Digital submissions are open from January 1 to January 31, 2026.
