Double Duty: 2 person show & residency for Artist Parents

About the Open Call

Artist parents need time, space, and a platform to create and share their work. In response to this need, Kinhouse Art, in collaboration with Artist/Mother Podcast, provides a supportive environment and nourishing resources for artists who are parents. This open call invites individual artists who identify as parents to submit their work. Two artists will be selected to participate in a joint exhibition and residency. The exhibition will run from April 11th to May 15th, 2026, at the Kinhouse Gallery in Fort Wayne, IN, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. Each selected artist will receive a one-week residency stay in a 3-bedroom home with a detached studio in Fort Wayne, IN, which is family-friendly and can be scheduled anytime during the 2026 calendar year. While childcare is not provided, local babysitter connections can be offered. Additional benefits include an interview on the Artist/Mother podcast, promotion and marketing through Instagram, newsletters, and local press, and the opportunity to sell artwork with a 70% artist commission. All art mediums are accepted. Applicants are responsible for submission fees, shipping/delivery of artwork, and travel/grocery costs for the residency. This opportunity is open globally, with international artists responsible for all associated travel and shipping expenses.

What is Offered

Two selected artists will receive a 1-month exhibition at Kinhouse Gallery (2 person show), a week-long stay at the artist residency in Fort Wayne, IN (family friendly, to be used during 2026), an interview on the Artist/Mother podcast, promotion and marketing of artwork on Kinhouse Art's Instagram, newsletter, and local press outlets, and an exhibition reception on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. Artists will receive 70% commission on any artwork sold during the exhibition.

Requirements

This open call is for individual artists to submit on behalf of themselves. Applicants must identify as a parent and submit work in its finished form. Artists are responsible for shipping or delivery of work to and from the gallery, as well as travel costs to/from the residency and grocery/dining costs during their stay. International artists are welcome but must accommodate their own travel and shipping expenses.

Apply via the provided Google Form. A $36 submission fee is required; use code “SUPPORT” for $10 off. Applicants must provide a screenshot of their completed payment within the application form.
