Fredericksburg Arts Commission
The Fredericksburg Arts Commission is seeking proposals for a mural to cover the outside wall of the Dorothy Hart Community Center. The project seeks to reflect the vitality of the local community and appeal to general audiences. The selected artist will paint on-site on provided panels. The selection process involves a jury narrowing submissions to three finalists who will present detailed designs before a final winner is selected.
Selected artist receives $4000 for labor and supplies (panels provided). Three finalists receive a $200 stipend for their final presentations.
Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Open to local and regional artists. Artwork must be unique and original. Finalists must provide a Certificate of General Liability Insurance naming the City as additional insured in the amount of $1,000,000. Artists are responsible for their own food and travel costs.
Email a proposal package to publicart@fredarts.com with the subject line 'Dorothy Hart Mural'. The submission must include artist contact info, bio, resume/CV, 3-5 portfolio photos, a written concept proposal, a sketched proposal, a technical synopsis, and a list of team members.
