La Maison Dora Maar
This fellowship program invites established artists and scholars from various fields of arts and letters for a residency period of one to two months at the Dora Maar House in Ménerbes, France. The opportunity provides a stipend of $1500 per month and a travel award covering the average fare from the fellow's home to Paris. Fellows are expected to work independently on a defined project and engage with the local Ménerbes community, potentially through presentations, workshops, readings, or performances. The application process requires a completed questionnaire, an up-to-date vita (max 4 pages), a brief project description, a letter of reference, and work samples tailored to the artist's discipline (e.g., PDF manuscript for writers, 10 images for visual artists, 10-minute total submission for time-based artists and musicians). Non-EU candidates need a passport copy, while French and EU candidates need ID papers. Applications are digital only and can be submitted in French or English. There is a $25 application fee paid online via the Slideroom Application Portal. Applicants should be established professionals, having completed significant work such as published works, solo exhibitions, or full-length films. The residency is not suitable for beginners, graduate students, or those just starting their careers. While fellows come from all over the world, a basic knowledge of English or French is required. The selection committee evaluates the quality of the project, available space, funding, the applicant's ability to work independently, and their ability to represent the program well. Fellows are expected to reside alone, though visitors are permitted for one weekend. Deferral of the fellowship is not allowed. Transportation within the community is largely the fellow's responsibility, with limited public options.
