The Paseo Project

About the Open Call

Wildfire is rapidly reshaping ecosystems and communities. Disturbance seeks to examine fire as an essential ecological process of adaptation and resilience. Selected artists will participate in a four-day boot camp with scientists and fire practitioners in Northern New Mexico, creating new works for an exhibition and public programming that addresses living with fire in a climate-altered future.

What is Offered

Selected artists receive an artist stipend (amount TBD), food and housing during the four-day boot camp, and eligibility for additional stipends for public program proposals. Travel stipends are available on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements

Artists must be 21 or older and able to participate in all project phases, including the boot camp (April 9-12, 2026) and studio production (April-August 2026). Artists are responsible for their own transportation to Taos, shipping of artwork, and installation.

How to Apply

Apply via the CaFÉ platform by submitting an Artist Statement of Interest, 3-5 work samples of past work, and an Artist Bio/CV. Taos County residents may use the code FREETAOS to waive the application fee.
