About the Open Call

Created in 2012, the Derwent Art Prize rewards excellence in contemporary pencil art, including 2D and 3D artworks created in any pencil (colour, water-soluble, pastel, graphite, and charcoal). Approximately 80 shortlisted artworks will be displayed at the OXO Gallery in London’s South Bank. The judging panel includes Modupeola Fadugba, Kathleen Soriano, and Charles Villeneuve de Janti.

What is Offered

Total prize fund of £13,500: First Prize (£4,000 + year's supply of products), Second Prize (£2,000), Young Artist First Prize (£4,000), Young Artist Second Prize (£2,000), People's Choice (£500), New Artist Award (£500), and Educators Award (£500). All winners receive Derwent Lightfast Pencils.

Requirements

Works must be 2D or 3D and created in pencil (including charcoal, graphite, pastel, etc.). Open to international artists. Young Artist awards are restricted to those under 25 years of age.

How to Apply

Artists can enter online by completing the entry form and uploading up to 6 digital images of recent works (jpg format, max 5MB). A non-refundable application fee is required.
