De Ateliers
De Ateliers is an artists’ institute open to artists at the beginning of their professional career. It offers a two-year studio and tutoring programme tailored to the needs of highly motivated artists who wish to strengthen their artistic foundation, develop their ideas, and deepen their practice in a focused, critical environment. The programme is centered around weekly individual studio conversations with regular and guest tutors. Participants have 24/7 access to spacious studios in a monumental building in central Amsterdam. The institute provides several specialized workshops (wood, metal, synthetics, sound/video editing, and analogue photography) supervised by technicians, and an in-house exhibition space called Woonhuis.
Private studio (70-100m2), weekly one-on-one studio visits, a side programme of talks and excursions, access to specialized workshops and technicians, a stipend of €17,916, a yearly production budget of €2,100, housing assistance in Amsterdam, and visa support for international artists.
Open to visual artists at the beginning of their professional career (typically aged 20-30). Artists must not have worked at Jan van Eyck Academy, BAK, or Rijksakademie. Good command of English is required. Duos are eligible to apply but must share a studio.
Applicants must complete an online application form divided into four sections: personal data and education (including CV and ID), portfolio (10-20 images or up to 3 videos for performance/video artists), motivation (reason for applying), and payment of the €65 application fee.
