Dance in the North
This co-commission is offered to support the development of a new piece of dance performance, with an expectation that this will lead to public presentation during its development in 2026/27 at scratch nights. The successful artist/company will engage with Dance in the North partners to explore presentation opportunities once the work is fully produced. The partnership is a consortium of dance organisations and venues committed to enhancing artist development and dance programming in the North of England.
£12,500 commissioning fee, scratch night performance opportunities in Salford, Newcastle and Leeds, research and rehearsal residencies, technical residency space, environmental sustainability advice, access and inclusion support, mentoring, dramaturgy, tour-booking advice, fundraising and producing support.
Applicants must have a proven track record in creating dance performance and managing funded projects, and must be living and working in the North of England. Not eligible for artists/companies receiving regular sustained funding from the Arts Council or those whose main art form is not dance.
Applications can be submitted in writing, by video, or by audio recording via the provided link to the Yorkshire Dance application form.
