The Center of Gravity at the Niels Bohr Institute
Art and science are different ways of expressing our human curiosity and our desire to understand the cosmos. The Center of Gravity (CoG) at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) is a Center of Excellence where we strive to understand the gravitational interaction and the cosmos. We are currently inviting proposals for artist residencies of up to three months that engage with the research of the Center of Gravity. Projects may take various forms across artistic disciplines, provided they engage with themes such as black holes, gravitational waves, and the concept of time. The residency includes regular meetings with scientists and the expectation that the artist will present a piece of work at the end, such as a donated artwork, performance, or musical piece.
A three-month residency, travel and accommodation expenses for non-local participants, potential production stipend on a case-by-case basis, and regular meetings with scientists.
Artists must present an original, bold, and ambitious proposal that engages with themes of black holes, gravitational waves, and the concept of time. The artist is expected to deliver a piece of work (artwork, performance, or music) and coordinate a public external exhibit.
Submit a single PDF document titled 'LastName_FirstName_Application' containing a project description (max 1 page), a motivation letter (max 1 page), and a brief CV (max 3 pages) through the official application page.
